SCHOOL BOOKS

Curriculum experts at Manarat Riyadh International Schools believe that textbooks are of high importance as they provide a wide field of spontaneous and creative interaction in and outside the classroom. At MRIS we believe that learning cannot happen without the right tools. Our subject specialists guide learners to achieve specific educational goals, and for that both educators and learners both need textbooks. As these textbooks play a pivotal role in the process of teaching and learning, they are developed by experts in education taking into account the different stages of learners and learning.

The Philosophy of Students Using Textbooks

Textbooks aim to provide understandable inputs for students, enable them to appropriately absorb sciences with confidence, and help them develop their reading and understanding skills. During the process, learners are often encouraged to use dictionaries, reference books, and other enrichment materials.

Curricula: Formal and Enrichment

We are all mindful that we live in a rapidly changing world and that we are preparing our students for life where they may be working in jobs that do not currently exist yet, employing technologies that have not yet been invented so far. Through dual curricula, the American and British curriculum Manarat Al-Riyadh places significant emphasis on the development of personal learning and thinking skills that will result in our students to adapt to the changing circumstances, enabling and empowering them to meet the demands of their future life.

At MRIS, we manifest the curriculum as the knowledge, skills, and understandings that students are expected to learn. MRIS teachers work as a concurrent team to develop and deliver the content of the curriculum by using modern teaching methodologies that meet the different needs of the students as they continue their learning adventure.

As a school committed to excellence, Manarat Al Riyadh provides an authentic, standards-based American curriculum based on the  Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for Science. Along with the American curriculum, MRIS offers the British curriculum, which is based on the reputable National Curriculum of UK.

The two curricula set out the most important knowledge and skills that every child has a right to learn and ensure a lifelong love of learning to ensure that children develop their potential in all areas especially in the core subjects of English, Mathematics, and Science. At MRIS, students are taught to learn by questioning, problem-solving and using creative thinking rather than by the mere delivery of facts, consequently, provide our students analytical and creative thinking skills that they will need in the college and working life. A variety of teaching and assessment methods are implemented to develop independent thinking-skills together with mastery of each subject matter

In order to ensure a high-quality education, MRIS regularly review and examine each subject area in-depth to ensure that the curricula are up-to-date and reflect our rapidly changing world.

The two curricula that MRIS offers are recognized and respected around the world. Both curricula have huge benefits that enable the students to continue their education anywhere in the world seamlessly, pursue their dreams, and become successful global citizens.

Electronic Teaching Aids for Textbooks

Manarat Riyadh International Schools provide educational systems to support the school textbook, and this is done through simplifying the sciences in the textbook, and adding enrichment materials that better suit the students’ needs in the cognitive, emotional, creative and dynamic fields as well as enabling them to delve deep into every subject so that students can gain more knowledge.

The school also provides an e-learning system, Maarif Learning Gate (MLG), which is the applied tool for learning using computers and technology in both synchronous and asynchronous methods.

Via Maarif Learning Gate, it is possible to do a list of online activities such as educational classes, exams, submitting assignments, doing research, evaluating students, marking exams and home assignments, establishing audio and video virtual classes, instant messaging between learners and teachers, creating discussion forums about each subject, distributing roles and assignments between students, planning lessons and analyzing students’ marks and data.

This learning gate is constantly updated with educational materials by teachers and supervised by a specialized technical team that provides support for students and parents all the time. Students and parents receive entry data at the beginning of the year to follow up on all the work and to carry out the needed communication.
